Cheddar Up occasionally sends out emails notifying users that we need to request additional information in order to verify their identity and validate their account. This FAQ answers common questions related to these information requests.
Why are you asking me for additional information?
Cheddar Up is required by federal law to collect certain information from all of its users. If your account has been active and in good standing for quite some time and you are now receiving a new information request, we apologize for this inconvenience. It is due to a recent alert from our payment processor regarding an issue fully validating your account.
I got an email from Cheddar Up asking for more identity information. Is this legit?
As needed, Cheddar Up has been notifying users that we need updated or corrected information. We appreciate you being careful with your personal information and always advise avoiding emails that may seem suspicious. In this case, updating requested identity information on the Cheddar Up website or mobile app ensures the request is really from us.
What type of additional information does Cheddar Up need from me?
In most cases, if you received a request for additional information, it is due to either missing information (address, Tax ID, etc.), the need for more information, or a mismatch of information (legal name does not match SSN or EIN). If information that you submitted is mismatched, we will call this to your attention withing your My Account > Account Details. How do I add additional information in the app?
In the Cheddar Up app, click the gear icon in the lower right of your main app screen. Click on Profile, and then click into “Organization Details” and/or “My Details” as necessary to complete additional information.
What happens if I don’t provide this additional information to Cheddar Up?
Unfortunately, if we’re not able to collect this additional required information, in most cases, you will no longer be able to accept payments or make withdrawals on your Cheddar Up account.
What should I do if I made a typo or submitted the wrong documentation?
In most cases, if your account has an identity validation error, any fields that have issues should be in an editable state, allowing you to make an update. If for any reason this is not the case, please reach out to Cheddar Up Support and they can help you correct any issues.
