Organize your collection with categories

A category is a way for organizers to visually separate items on a collection. Categories can also be used to create a navigation menu on a collection, which allows payers to easily filter groups of items (helpful for collections with many items).

Create a category

Within Build > Items, once you have created at least one item, you’ll see the option to “Create Category”. You can create a category by taking the following steps:

  1. Click “Create Category”.
  2. Give your category a name (and optional description).
  3. Click “Save”.
  4. Your category will appear on your Item canvas. Now drag an item (by clicking on the three dots to the left of the item) into the category container.

Reorder categories

To reorder your categories, take the following steps:

  1. Collapse your categories by clicking on the arrows on the right of the category bars.
  2. Click the three-dot icon to the left of one of your categories and drag it up or down until it’s in the desired location. Repeat this until all categories are in their proper position.

Common Questions

How can I add an item to a category?

There are two ways to add an item to a category. You can drag and drop an item into a category container as described above. Or, when creating or editing an item, you can use the category drop-down menu to select which category an item should be placed in, as shown below.

Can I delete a category?
Yes. To delete a category, click the trash icon on the category bar. If you delete a category, you’ll be warned that you will also delete any items within that category. If you want to delete a category but not the items within it, first move the items out of the category or into another category prior to deleting the category.
Can a category be a navigation menu?
Yes! This is a significant feature and value-add of categories. Go here to learn how to make categories navigation menus on your collection.
Can I easily adjust pricing of items within a category?
Yes. On the Items view of the Build step, you’ll see a button that says “Adjust Pricing”. Upon clicking this, you’ll see options to increase or decrease pricing by the percentage of your choosing. This discount can be applied to all items, or can be applied to specific categories that you select using the category check boxes in this window.
