Peer-to-Peer fundraising allows you to create a fundraiser with the addition of personalized fundraising pages for members of your community. It lets you maximize your impact (and raise more!), while empowering participants with the tools they need to fundraise and track their progress.
Cheddar Up has three types of peer-to-peer fundraisers that will meet all your fundraising needs! Peer-to-peer fundraising features are available to everyone on all plans (including our Basic plan), so you can get started today.
What is peer-to-peer fundraising?
Peer-to-peer fundraising allows you to create a main fundraising page - with lots of bells and whistles and customizations - in addition to creating an unlimited number of unique participant fundraising pages for each of your community members. Donors can make contributions on both your main fundraising page as well as on participant fundraising pages. When donations are made on the main fundraising page, donors will have the option to specify which participant the donation should be assigned to (or they can make a general donation if they don’t know a participant). When donations are made on participant fundraising pages, the donation is automatically assigned to that participant.
Participants can customize their participant pages with their own image (or video), messaging, and fundraising goal. They can share their unique fundraising page URL with their personal networks and then track their progress - with the ability to see (and be notified) of who donated, how much, as well as their total amount raised.
In addition to participants, you can also create teams. Teams is a way to group participants (great for school-wide campaigns where each class is considered a team, etc.). And if you choose to enable a Leaderboard, you will be able to see which participants (or teams) are in the lead to encourage friendly competition that will help you raise more.
Three types of peer-to-peer fundraisers
Cheddar Up has three different types of peer-to-peer fundraisers, designed to meet all of your needs no matter what type of community fundraising you have planned. Those include:
- Flat Donations: Encourages supporters to contribute a one-time donation on behalf of a participant. See example.
- Item Sales: Lets you set up an online store for each participant to share. Perfect for plant sales, holiday shops, raffles or any other product-oriented sale. See example.
- Athons (coming soon!): Collect pledges based on participant activity, such as miles walked or books read (this also includes the option for donors to give a flat donation instead of a per-unit donation if desired).
Each of these peer-to-peer fundraising types has loads of settings and customizations that allow you to make your fundraiser your very own - including options to add a donor feed and leaderboard, customize button text, include a fundraiser FAQ, customize date settings, allow general and pre-set amount donations, send custom donor receipts, and more.
Available to everyone - with transparent pricing
Cheddar Up’s peer-to-peer fundraising feature is available on all Cheddar Up plans - even our Basic plan! - with no extra fees. Cheddar Up prides itself on transparent pricing - not only to the organizer, but also to the payer. We never want someone to be surprised by fees. Many other platforms that offer peer-to-peer fundraising features use a “tipping” model. They claim to be "free" to the organizer, but then they add an automatic ~15% tip to every checkout (which goes directly to the software platform!). This tip can results in a hefty sum that can really upset donors and erode their trust. Instead, Cheddar Up chooses to be transparent - we charge low fees while delivering an amazing service to both organizers and their communities.
