Ways to collect information on a collection

Collecting information along with payments is Cheddar Up’s specialty! There are four ways to capture information on Cheddar Up - forms, waivers, sign ups and item questions. Depending on what you're collecting for, you may use none, one or all of these methods. This guide discusses how to build them as well as examples of each.

WHAT'S IN THIS GUIDE:

Forms

Information collected in a form should be information that is needed from every payer on your collection despite what items they add to their cart. Take the following steps to build a form:

  1. From Build > Forms, select Form or Waiver from the displayed options or click the orange "Add Form or Sign Up" button.
  2. Give your form a name.
  3. Start to build your form by clicking on questions from the left hand menu.
  4. The question types will be added to your form where you can customize them and choose to make them required.
  5.  Continue to add questions until you have completed all fields for your form.
  6. Click Continue to advance to the "Settings" step.  Choose to make the form dynamic and/or required.
  7. Click Continue to Preview and finally, Save your form.

Note: Cheddar Up forms and item questions should not be used to collect confidential or highly secure information such as credit card information, social security numbers, etc. Cheddar Up is also not HIPPA compliant, which should be taken into consideration when creating your form and item question fields.

Sign Ups

Sign Ups are available from within Build > Forms and are considered a type of form. You can create a sign up for just about anything - from snack schedules to volunteer rosters to teacher conferences. We have two sign up types - a Sign Up List and a Sign Up Schedule. The key difference between the two types of sign ups is that the Sign Up Schedule allows you to add multiple dates and times. Both sign up types can be used alongside collecting payments or standalone (without collecting payments) and offer an elegant, streamlined experience for your community. To add a sign up to your collection, take the following steps:

  1. From Build > Forms, click to add a "Sign Up".
  2. Select your sign up type - either Sign Up List or Sign Up Schedule.
  3. Give your sign up a name and an optional description and then begin adding spots to build out your sign up to meet your needs.
  4. Consider clicking Sign Up Settings to customize your sign up with a specific time zone, reminder timing, participation limits, custom comments and more.
  5. Preview your sign up along the way, and when ready, click "Save Sign Up".

Waivers

Waivers are considered a type of form and are also added from Build > Forms. To create a Waiver, use our Waiver elements to build your form.  Adding the Waiver Text field and a Signature field make your form a legally binding document that will not be editable once responses are submitted.

  1. From Build > Forms, click "Add Form or Waiver".
  2. Give your waiver a name.
  3. Paste or type your waiver copy into the Waiver text field.  Use the formatting tools to create line breaks or other formatting.
  4. Add a signature question type to your waiver.
  5. Click "Save Waiver".

Item questions

Item questions are like mini-forms added to a specific item.  You'll want to capture information here that is specific to an item or to the payers who select an item. Six question types are available for item questions, including: open text, multiple choice, check boxes, date, phone number, and time.

  1. From Build > Items, select an item type from the options displayed or click the orange "Add Item" button.
  2. Give the item a name and select an amount type.
  3. Advance through Description and Settings to Questions by clicking the Continue button or simply select the Questions tab at the top of the Item modal.
  4. Add your questions by selecting them from the left hand menu. Customize each question as needed.
  5. Click Save to save your work.
